New Henry 30-30 rifle for 2008 !!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: October 19, 2007, 05:10:40 PM »
Checked out the Henry website today, They have a VERY NICE!!!!  30-30 LEVER ACTION RIFLE  COMING OUT FOR JANUARY 2008!!!

The wood on the brass  receiver model looks to be a high grade Walnut as opposed to the plain Walnut on the steel receiver model.

I hope it's lighter, slimmer, and cheaper than their other centerfire products.

They say that a Marlin lever action rifle has less parts than a Winchester 94.  How's the Henry rifle when it comes to the number of parts in the rifle ?

Coyote, I went to their site and took a look for this 30-30 lever but couldn't seem to find it. Where at on the site is it advertised?

Every walnut-stocked rifle in the Henry catalog has AAA wood.  What do you think the chances are, that you're gonna get one like that ?

$750 - $1000, too much for  a 30-30. I'll go with Marlin.

I heard that....That's way too much for a Henry. I just bought my oldest son a brand new scoped Marlin 336 30-30 for $400.

I am glad to see a company expanding its product line of lever action rifles.  I wish them success.  Now if only Mossberg would come out with a remake of its lever action .30-30.

AAA Grade Black Walnut  makes that rifle will worth it, if it shoots well.

As for the weight, my 20 gauge XTR Winchester pump shotgun with a Red-field 4x scope weighs in at close to 10 Lbs. I can carry that easily.

For me that's varmint rifle weight.  I use leverguns because they are light and short.  I'm glad Henry is doing something new too.  I wish they'd just cloned the Model 94 Winchester.

I downloaded the hi rez pictures and this rifle doesn't seem to have a loading gate? Looks like it loads the same way as a tube fed .22, thru a port in the tube?

Looks nice. A bit pricey but I bet that will change in a couple years.
Also, I for one am glad it is not a clone of another rifle.
It's a Henry not a Winchester.
I like choices.

No loading gate on Henry's,which is why I would not have one, even at a more reasonable price.
Their 'Bg Boy' lineup for SASS shooters had no gate either...loads like a .22.

not for me.

I've contacted Henry about this issue, and will post their reply, when  and if I receive it?

And Henry's reply:   Thank you for your interest in our new 30/30. Henrys are tubular feed design, that our system and look.

Kind of a pass the buck answer, isn't it? Of course Marlin and Winchester are both tubular feed, as well.

Never paid it much attention but if their tube feed for the larger bores is like the 22 versions it would make unloading easy just take the spring tube out and pour the shells out. That is what I do with my 22 mag.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I happen to like this type of loading.
Shoot a couple boxes through my marlin 336 and your thumb will be sore.
Not so with my dads 22mag.

I agree. I have been shooting tube feed 22s for over 50 years, and see no problem with them. Sounds like less parts to wear out to me, with the Henry system.

I like that its tube fed like a .22 but I wish they had a clip fed one also.
