Can I paint my new mortar?
« on: October 23, 2007, 09:22:04 AM »
My mortar I bought off ebay came in yesterday. It is very nice, I don't know alot but it really nice. Question is what do I paint it with to protect the bare steel. Can I use a high temp black paint? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I live in Central Florida so it is very humid and even gets kinda hot sometimes

If stainless steel, leave it alone.  If not, be sure to prime it with something like Rustoleum clean metal primer, then when dry paint with finish coat.  If you want top quality, there are epoxy-based paints that will last longer than you will. Follow directions on the can.
