powders
« on: October 23, 2007, 04:06:46 PM »
i am wanting some opinions on powder choices i have been using app loose powder because it is very clean but i am thinking about trying something different i bought some triple 7 pellets but in still prefer loose and i also looked at pyrodex and i can't get any goex powder close to me. what i want to know is how do you all like the pyrodex and 777 and how are they for accuracy and clean up and also the cost of them i can get pyrodex cheaper so would 777 be worth the price. any help would be appreciated.

I've been shooting muzzleloaders for over 30 years, and in my experience 3F GOEX is easier to clean up than Pyrodex or 777.  It's also more accurate in my guns.

I am down to my last 2 pounds of goex. The old guy with the local shop passed away, so no place t get it here either. I am hording it like it is gold. I use it in my new englander shotgun and do not want to run out. I switched to jim shockey gold which is made by app. works well shoots well in one of my muzzleloaders and horrible in the other

Regular old Pyrodex is about the best of the faux powders.
