The bad thing is here in Pa you can't hunt with any simi auto firearm. Boy I would love to hunt Grounhogs with this in the 204 version. I guese I would have to go with the 223 since I can't hunt varmints with it here. It would be a lot of fun at the range and would cost a ton of money to shoot the 204 there. I would really still like to have it in the 204 though. I wonder what I could the price of reloading 204 ammo down to. I have several hundred 204 brass. Dale

Dale - I can take that nasty 204 brass off your hands. It would give me something to do this winter breaking them down to 223 and 221 brass

No, it is based on the 222 Magnum case with a straighter, sharper shoulder. Head size is the same though.

nomosendero has it right. the 204 was based on the 222 Magnum. The 222 Magnum is a little longer than a 223 in the body and a longer neck. The 221 FB, 223, 222 Mag, 204, 17 Remington just to name a few, all belong to the 222 Remington family. They all share the same head size (.378"). I find it interesting that in the article that Dale posted they said that the 223 is 25% of all loaded ammo that Remington is making right now.

What that article didn't tell you about ammo production is that for a couple of years .223 ammo has been in short supply and voluntarily rationed for civilian use.  There is a waiting list and backlog production schedules for the .223 bullet.  Because of the current political problems around the World, and because War Drums are beating in the distance with a real possibility of a major breakout, every Military around the world has been buying as much .223 ammo as they can get their hands on.  Which is why if your gunshop orders .223 ammo, he has a 1 year waiting period and production backlog before it arrives. 

Other caliber ammo usually only goes into production once a year but are readily available.....so far.

I am going to check out that 'Black' rifle.

The MSRP seems to have dropped so it makes this even more enticing. The 1st article showed 1,145 and at Big Greens site its 999

I'm in love with my Sig 556 and really have no reason to get this other than like most of us here, I'm a Remmy whore and love to play with their new offerings.

Before I type the following, let it be know I'm not selling any of my .223 ammo so don't message me asking, lol. I have atleast 4,000 rounds of American Eagle 55grain FMJs. They worked flawlessly in my AR-15 at the time so at the time I stocked up. This was 2 years ago and boy am I glad I did after looking at current prices. I go thru 4 or 500 hundred real quick so even my stockpile won't last long.

The more I look at pics of the rifle, the more I want it. Available in early January? I think I just figured out where my tax returns are going
