Well, we don't have much longer to wait.
pulled a couple shots of the trailcams today.
As you can see in the video, that young deer is not 75 yards from my cabin.

Just picked up the all season license. Won't be heading north until 11-09-07 for one week. I just don't like the opener anymore with the crazy weather. Have been taking the second week for a few years now and it seems more stable with highs around 40.

The second week makes no difference in getting the bucks too I found out.

Nice little slope the cabin is on.

I agree bearfat, if I had one week to hunt, it would be the second week.
Fortunately, this year I get the whole first week off, and the second weekdays.
just need to come home Saturday evening, and Sunday morning, of the second and third weekend.

We had a pretty good hunt in the Fergus Falls area. The prediction south of the Interstate where I hunt mostly was pretty dire.

We did 4 for 6 on Saturday. My brother-in-law got a doe about 100 yards from his house in a fieldat about 9:00 am. I shot a real nice 8 pt buck about 11:00 am in the river bottom a few miles south. We My nephew and brother-in-law each shot does about a half hour apart in the early afternoon on a new  WMA recently purchased by Pheasants Forever and given to the state.

Today we hunted a bit with no luck and we then butchered the deer. I'm headed up to the Itasca area on Tuesday for 5 days at a friends' cabin

After the dire predictions, we were all pretty happy.

I hope everybody else had a safe and productive hunt. More later on my trip north, and the muzzleloader season.
