rcbs scores big again
« on: June 17, 2003, 09:33:24 AM »
I am having trouble with sizing the bulge out of my glock .40 rounds. explained this to rcbs and they tried to fix it with a slightly oversize die. didn't quite fix the problem. but they came through, they found an older steel die that can be milled to size to the rim. once again they have a customer for life, Raymond :-D

Just curious, what kind of gun are you shooting? Sounds like max pressures in an unsupported chamber.      MP+UC=CF

I have been very happy with my RCBS stuff as well as their service.  They are very easy to deal with. :)

Boneguru,
Sorry for the dumb question. I didn't read it very well or I would have seen the Glock in your post. Unsupported case heads in the Glock chambers have been a problem in the high pressure .40. I'd watch the case heads closely for signs of fatigue. If the case head bulge is bad enough you have to have sizing dies milled to resize the bulge away, you are close to case head failure. If this is happening with factory ammo, I'd send the barrel back to Glock for inspection. If it's just with your reloads, it's time to take a critical look at your loads.

not seeing any other signs of danger other than both factory and reloads both do the same, slight bulge at base that wont work out. staying safely within saami loads, hot isn't always best!!! thanks for the heads up. been over all of this with glock and rcbs, dangers of hot loads round seperation and detonation etc. :-)

Boneguru,
Glad you're on top of this! Some of the barrels have a larger area of unsupported case head than others. If you can, check some brass from another .40 Glock with a micrometer and compare it to yours.

actually have already ordered an aftermarket bbl, extended. this gives me a supported chamber and more length for accuracy and more complete burn of powder!!! plus now I can shoot lead, yeah right.
thanks guys. again thumbs up to RCBS they really wanted to help and I think that deserves a little recognition, Raymond

Excellent,
One of the first thing I do when I buy a Glock is order a cut rifiled barrel. Lead is cheap and I like to shoot a lot!
