I recently bought a used Like New Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .357 6" SS. I am amazed at the lack of quality in finish in the frame. Things like casting pits near the trigger housing. A casting pit on the top of the grip frame the size of a large pinhole, and very rough finishing on the underside of the top strap. It definitely needs some Dremel polishing. The finish on my 2-year old SS GP-100 is a lot better. Anybody else notice something similiar?

I own Rugers also, but if you think the polishing and finish is bad on the frame, try taking apart the action and looking at the mating surfaces/sear.  Now that's a place that I would expect to be as smooth as glass, but apparantely Ruger and I must disagree on this!

Send it back.  When we accept poor quality, there is no reason for the manufacturer to understand how upset we are with their product.  Besides, where you have the casting "pinhole" may not be dangerous in your case, but if those gas issues and molding issues aren't resolved, there could be a similar casting defect in someone else's gun in the wrong place and injury or death could result.

Hold them accountable, send it back, demand a new one.
