Texas Slam

Can you guys help me out.  What are the rams that are considered the Texas slam.  I know it is four exotic rams, much like the grand slam.  Which by the way is out of touch for me.  If you also know what the real grand slam rams are that would be helpful also. :D

:D  consists of: Texas Dall, Corsican, Hawaiian Black, and Mouflon. I'd like to see it encompass a couple more species myself, but I didn't make the category up. I finished my slam with a handgun last year by taking a fantastic Mouflon. I was born and raised on a working cattle ranch though so the meat was given away to a Greek family I know. Good luck on your slam if you decide to pursue it. RKBA!

Thanks for the info. on the slam.  My boy and I went on our first ram hunt last year.  I had been on a few game ranches before and saw that ram hunting can sometimes be a little tame.  My son got a nice Merino and I got a Corsican.  Weather was terrible so we got what we could.  Now there is talk about going after the slam.  I agree there are some other nice animals that would be good choices.  Did you have any places that you would recomend.

I have hunted a number of times with Thompson Temple in the Tx hill country.  He owns and or leases a number of ranches and has a good amount of animals to hunt.  I have hunted his Rocky Top ranch several times now and have a hunt booked in Sep for my wife to take her first ram.  He has a web site    http://www.thompsontemple.texaswildlife.net/

If you go there, take a look in his trophey room in his house.  Very awsome!

Thompson Temple started this record system with the Texas Slam.  His web pages are pretty humble, compared to what he has done. There's over 10 volumes of Records of Exotics record books now. He has the score sheets at this web page. You can rough score your exotic and then decide if you want to get it officially scored. Here's the page.

The Big Horn Slam has the Texas Slam animals plus two more:

A catalina and a merino.

Other slams for ROE are listed there too.

Well I hunted the Rocky Top Ranch with Thompson  April2002.  I did a Texas Slam with my TC 30-30. What a great trip Thompson is a true gentleman. His Trophy room is fantastic. Put your climbing shoes on for this place. I can't wait to go back for a Grand Slam.  Scott

I god didn't want us to eat animals, He wouldn't have made them out of meat!!!!
