Question About Foam Bore Cleaners
« on: November 03, 2007, 01:29:26 PM »
Some of my friends have switched to Outers foam bore cleaner.  They shoot copper bullets, and claim they no longer need to use a bore brush at all.  I shoot Remington Core Lokts, which are copper but have a lead tip.  Anybody know if they'll lead-up my bore if I don't brush?  I'd love to switch to the bore foam and forget brushing, if it makes sense.

Thanks.

Exposed lead tipped jacketed bullets can't lead the bore because the tip never touches the bore.

I've been using foaming bore cleaners since they first were available, they work very well without any brushing. Outers ,Gunslick, Hoppes and several others are the all the same product made by Milfoam, the Outers is sold at Walmart for $6.88 or less, Gunslick in the 12oz cans sells for $11 at Sportsman's Warehouse, doesn't work quite as good as WipeOut, but an overnight soak in any of em will clean routine fouling very well.

For quick cleaning I just foam it a couple times and patch them out...When I want it perfectly clean...I use both the foam ...and Barnes CR-10 with a  Nylon Tynex brush
