Carbine stock style, which should I make?
« on: June 18, 2003, 07:11:29 AM »
I have a bunch of exhibition grade wood laying around and am going to make a carbine stock. Which style stock should I make, a thumbhole or a standard style? Which is the most comfortable? I am actually leaning toward making a matched set of pistol grips so the grip will be the same when I convert to the carbine, hence a thumbhole. My addictions are way to OCD, I think I need help.

thanks

If you are scoping, go thumbhole all the way, very comfortable and easy to line up to shoot, especially offhand.   If you are going iron sights, it's really hard to get your face down to sight line with  a thumbhole and in that case I'd recommend regular configuration.
