I'm going to stay with the 150's

Went to the range today, and got my Win. 30-30 sighted in . Using hornady 150 RN being pushed by 31.1 gr. of IMR 3031, I had some 125 gr. sierras HP loaded up also . I thought that maybe I would use these for deer this season. The 125's shot pretty well, but I think I'll stay with the 150's . I was pretty amazed the groups I shot with the 150's. the 125's couldn't shoot as tight of groups as I wanted. Although I might in the near future, get some sp's or sst in 150 gr. I know that I'll have to load one at a time because of the tubular magazine. Just something I'll give a try in a few months.

While you're getting your range time in, you might want to try 170's as well.  Not, they won't kill any better, dead is dead, but you might find you can get even more accuracy

2 x Castaway, although I feel the 170s perform better all around.  My 94s prefer them.  JMTCW.  Mikey.

I remember back a few years, I shot a doe at about 40 yds, and when she got hit she went down and tried to get back up. It didn't happen. At the time, I had wondered if I should trade the 30-30 for a single-shot 30-06. After the shot, the thought of trading it went out the window. BTW, as I remember they were 170 gr coreloks. I think that I'll rethink and decide between the 150;s and the 170's.

Just a suggestion, I used the new leverevolutions last weekend to take a spike. It went right down at 60 yards.
There 160's in the 30-30 and worked great at the range off the bench.
Just my 2 cents....well more like $19 and 2 cents.  :o
