Yes, handguns are dangerous.  I wouldn't carry one if they weren't.

If they are so dangerous, maybe they should be banned.

HI CHEESE!

Motorcycles are a more dangerous form of transportation than cars based on the seriousness of injuries one is likely to receive when compared to automobiles,  no matter who is piloting the cycle.  They are JUST DANGEROUS!

OOPS!  Should have started a new thread.

Vote them all out, EVERY election!

My Harley is just sitting in the garage, shiny and bright, doing nothing dangerous at all, I will check on it later to see if it is behaving. If there is evidence of bad behavior,  I will have a long talk with it and tell it what you said about it. The Harley may become enraged and act upon this rage and seek you out and then perhaps do something dangerous to you. :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cheese:  Harleys do not have a mind of their own and do not come alive all by themselves unless they are old Panheads that leave heart-shaped oil leaks on yer garage floor.  Then they have to be treated like jealous womens and yes, in that state they can be quite dangerous all by themselves just sitting there doin' nutin.  No amount of talking will help, they have to be, well, they have to be used what they were made for, so take it from there.

Guns, on the other hand, and especially handguns don't suffer hormonal imbalances like jealousy and can be left all by their lonesomes, fer years and years, without botherin' anyone.

Just thought I would throw that in.  Mikey.

Mikey,

You have a good point about Harleys.

The handgun thing is another story. It is sad to see some people have fallen victim to the anti gun propaganda. To call some gun particularly dangerous is exactly what the antis have been working on for years. I have been trying to make that point several times with out directly saying it, using analogy's and comparisons, no luck. This "extra dangerous" concept is a prelude to "extra legislation". I will respect these peoples decision and wish them luck. I am sure they are good people, just misguided by the antis and wrong. Just take your blinders off when crossing the street because that would be dangerous. I gotta go and check on my Harley. :D

It's DANGEROUS to follow a Harley down the highway....you might get a flat tire from one of those screws or bolts that's always falling off a Harley and that oil that is always leaking out of Harleys is DANGEROUS too.  Harleys are a DANGEROUS bio-hazard.  Best to put  them in a dark museum before they can hurt someone.

It's hard to believe they have been in production for a hundred years and no one has ever been able to teach one to go around a corner fast.  Are they slow learners?   ;D

I've been a voting American gun owner, and biker longer than most, and I don't need to explain myself to anyone, but "find another forum" is offensive.  Perhaps you should take a look at yourself, and ask why you are calling me "a Commie or a liberal".  Maybe you should have someone help you look up the word "dangerous" in a dictionary also, so you will have a better understanding of the word's usage.

Lets look at the real danger of guns.

You go into a gun shop to pick up a box of ammo, and sitting there is a new or used gun that you have been looking at for a long time.

Your wife complains that they other 22 guns you own are collecting dust.

But its a great deal, and you dont have a gun that does what that will (Cowboy, conceal carry in a small/big round, own a 357 with a 2.5 inch but not a 38,its a 1911 that is different from the other three you own, its the Glock in the size you dont have....)

And you paid off the credit card..............

Harleys don't leak oil; they claim their territory.  Handguns are only dangerous to people who are on the wrong side of them.

Let's face the reality.
Guns are dangerous----AND, they were designed to be dangerous.
A gun--long/short/rifle/shotgun/pistol--cannot load itself. It cant chamber a bullet. It can't discharge itself.
Do people get killed with guns?? Yes! do people get murdered by guns?? yes! Accidentally?? Yes!
Do people get killed and murdered--die? Yes everyday--every minute.
If you want too drive you have need too learn and practice driving safety--doesn't mean you might not get killed--but the odds are you will drive without being killed.
Dangerous is a strange thought. Life is dangerous--so dangerous that no one gets out alive.
Let's stop with the worry.
I like guns and they are fun too shoot-----doesn't make me a bad person.
Blessings

From the OED: Dangerous--Involving or causing danger.

Is a handgun dangerous--NO--can it become dangerous--YES--but only depending on the person using it.

No more, no less.
Bob

Cheese:  I have to agree with you.

blhof said:  "Harleys don't leak oil; they claim their territory".

myronman3:  I think blhof is right - it's not a matter of your Harley not loving you, I think it's just marking out its territory (lolol).

Now for a few of my own observations:  (1) I have seen old Harleys leak oil; (2) I have seen old Harleys fall right off their kickstands; (3)  I have seen old Beezers and Triumps fall right off their kickstands; (4) I have seen all of them lose a few nuts now and then but I have never seen anyone rule the road like Lucas, The Prince of Darkness, and (5) I have seen old bikers fall right off their bar stools.  Therefore I conclude that more old Brits fall off their bar stools or kickstands in the dark than do old Harley riders.

Ooooops!  Did I say that....................Mikey.

Gentlemen

While I've had good laughs over the Harley comments (some of you need to audition for Comedy Central -- seriously!), let's return to discussing handguns.

Thanks and God bless you in the new year!
