Anybody have one of these ? Seems like a sweet little rifle. I think I might have to find a space for it. :)

I had one for about six months.  It was a nice rifle, very accurate, but a little heavy for hunting.  They have a plastic trigger guard that is not very sturdy - mine broke.  Savage sent me a new one for free.  I then traded it for something I wanted more.

Kenscot,

I have one in 22 LR. It's very accurate and I love the accu-trigger. In my opinion the main weakness of the Mk II, at the least the ones in 22 LR, is the magazine. When I got my rifle, at first it would jam all the time when closing the bolt. I believe the angle of the magazine (in relation to the chamber) was a bit off. I bent the bracket that holds the magazine a tiny bit, and looks like that fixed the jamming problem. But there was another problem with the magazine itself. Sometimes when opening the bolt one or more rounds would jump out of the magazine. I fixed that by tweaking the lips of the magazine, closing them a little so that they would grip the rounds better. I also purchased a spare 10-round magazine, and it is good, didn't need any tweaking.

At first I got quite disappointed with the feeding and magazine problems. But since fixing the problems, I have fired over a thousand rounds, and am very happy with the rifle.

i have one of the FVTs with the peep sights. it is a real junk eater. almost anything i shoot through it groups respectably bit it does have its favorites. with aguila rifle match ammo it will but 10 shots together you can cover with a dime at 50 yards. at the same range it will cover cci blazers with a nickel. with the synthetic stock it is nice and light for hunting. i am going to get anothr mark II but this time the BVT laminated with no sights for my wife next year.

I bought a Mk. I FVT with the Williams target sights in June 2006, and put a Nikon 4X on it. As noted, the thing shoots everything really well and I am anxious to try some real good target ammo in it. I was impressed by the rifle, no frills but everything works great. I guess I wanted a good single shot for a long time. It is a great small game rifle, too. I noticed that the action got better after running a couple of thousand rounds through it.
