i order a 452 American , $ 279 at cdnn. i have Mueller apv 4.5x14x40 $115. on order.I also have trigger kit ,CZ rings and bore guide coming from Whittaker's gun shop. It will be my Christmas present. What ammo do you suggest for a 22 long rifle? Is there anything else i will need besides ammo?

 ;) Hey gunclub:
Looks like you know what to get.   Congratulations, hope you'll enjoy your shooting with the CZ.    My CZ likes the cheap standard hunting rounds with a 40gr. bullet.   The high dollar target ammo wasn't impressive to me at all.   The hiper ammo would not pattern well beyond 50 yards, so I don't even buy them anymore.   Federal Lightning does well, as does Winchester Target ammo.  Remington was so-so.  I didn't like CCI results.   Other men have had different results than I have, but I did a lot of testing back when I first got my 452 Trainer.

These guns can shoot straight.  Here is what mine did at 100 yards.    This target practice session was on a cold winter afternoon.   I'd have to take my shots between wind gusts that was strong enough to move me.  All I had to sturdy my aim was my sling and elbows.

Enjoy your rights to keep and bear arms.

Hello Gunclub,

The more I shoot, the more I believe each gun is an individual with its own tastes and preferences. I do not own a CZ 452, but another manufacturer's 22 LR rifle. A friend of mine has a rifle exactly like mine, same make, model, caliber, everything. We never compared dates of manufacture but I believe they should be close as we both got our rifles from the same store on the same date. My rifle likes Federal 40gr solids and doesn't like Federal 36gr hollow points. My friend's rifle is exactly the opposite.

The good thing about 22s is that ammo is very affordable. I'd suggest getting a box each of several different types of ammo and trying them out to find out what your rifle likes.

Best,
Marc
