Filling Pits
« on: November 11, 2007, 04:22:58 PM »
I have a mauser action I am going to use on a project and the action had been badly pitted.  Since I am working this into a 45acp rifle I am not concerned with strength the pits are not a structural concern.

I have ground out some but was wondering if anyone has used anything to "fill" these in the past?  I am going to duracoat the action and barrel so I am not concerned with not being a able to blue it.  Any thoughts??

The trick will be to get the rust stopped before filling. If not it will continue rusting and anything put in there will fail. You might try Actaglass..
