Biggest 2nd amendment case in many years..
« on: November 13, 2007, 12:54:15 AM »
The most critical 2nd amendment case in many years (since1939) is scheduled to come before the US Supreme court this morning (9/13).

Lawless Washington, DC trying to retain it's stringent "no guns allowed" laws in effect..

If they prevail, the rights of many of us across the nation could be hurt.

Have the "no guns allowed" laws in DC worked ?

I guess that if a house by house and person by person search were performed there one day..there would be no guns found !

......Yeah, right !

Obviously, at the moment, the only handguns to be found in DC outside the police and military...are in the possession of those who CHOOSE to break the law.

So, there are the police handguns...and thousands of ILLEGAL handguns.

Oh yes ! Those in the houses of Congress can go armed if they wish....OK for me..Joe Taxpayer..but not for you !

Not exactly, the court will decide whether or not to hear the case.......

Quote
D.C. Attorney General Linda Singer said she expected the Supreme Court to indicate by early November whether it will take the case.

I think we are either going to WIN BIG or we are going to LOSE BIG and quite frankly I'm not at all optimistic.

Court Takes No Action in Guns Case

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court took no action Tuesday in the case involving the District of Columbia's ban on handguns.

The justices discussed the case at their private conference on Friday, but reached no resolution.

Four justices must vote to grant an appeal. The court does not always reach a decision the first time it discusses a case.

At issue is the capital's 31-year ban on handguns, among the strictest gun-control laws in the nation. In March, a federal appeals court struck down the ban as incompatible with the Second Amendment.

The next time the court could announce its decision about hearing the case is Nov. 26.

The case is District of Columbia v. Heller, 07-290.

As I said in my original post, the case is due to " come before" the court.

The action of not taking action ..could be good news..although I would wish they would take it on
and decide i favor of the true intent of the second amendment.

This court is probably a better chance for us than future one ...if the  Dems get a chance to appoint .

I would only wish that the major media were as protective of the 2nd amendment as they are of the 1st...
