20ga USH 18 1/2" barrel
« on: November 13, 2007, 04:37:48 AM »
Has anyone shortened their USH barrel to 18 1/2" ?

I think it would make a real cool slug gun. Maybe then you could remove the stock weight?

Thoughts??

Thanks, Tom

I would think that shortening the barrel would increase the recoil due to the lighter weight.  I think it needs that stock weight in there, unless you are going to replace it with a mercury recoil reducer.

Check out the FAQ at the top of the H&R Centerfire rifle forum.  A lot of information there and a good share also applies to the H&R/NEF shotguns.

It would be cool but other than that I don't know why you would do it, not that that's not reason enough. I've though about doing it but have to many other irons in the fire right now

I am using a USH Youth model with the regular sized stock and I got to tell you the 22" barrel feels really short already. 18 1/2 would feel like a pistol ;D

I do like the 22" barrel though, it makes for a good woods/tree stand gun.
