Barrrel stock screw tightness,
« on: November 14, 2007, 02:53:39 AM »
My 50 cal Optima does not hold tight groups-- I can shoot 1 inch groups with a 3006 at 100 yds so I figure it must be th rifle,
My ml loader gives me 2-3inch groups at 50 yds with either open or scope. I use 100 grains  777 pellets and 295 powerpoints

I am wondering if i may be inconsistent in tightening rhe barrel screw. I read on another forum about placing an O ring around the barrel and marking the stock have more uniform fit. Also to mark the stock to align the screw slot for more consistent pressure

Maybe I just have a poor barrel
any suggestions

thanks

I would try a different powder...I had good luck with 777 loose & Barnes TMZ bullets
