mini-30 , factory loads and accy.

got the mini-30 to shoot 1inch groups at 50 yards with a hand load ( no not every time but alot ) so far can't find a factory load to do such . Anyone have any luck with factory loads ?
the hand load uses .310 bullets and most factory loads that i can find made in USA are .308  , the steel cased stuff is not so accurate either but does run from .310-311 .
the 50 yd. group is because the rifle is used in woods and swamps and most shots are 50 or less yards , maybe a 80 yard shot every blue moon !
it would be nice to find a factory load !
any other tips to improve accy. welcome .

In my experience, that's about all I can get from my minis. They are extremely tough, rugged, and reliable, but I have not found a one-hole mini 30 or 14.. That said, You can buy cheap ammo for plinking and fun, then use the handloads for more serious work.

I was hoping some one loaded a .310 good hunting bullet in a brass case , oh well !

I never hand loaded for mine when I had it.  I never had a misfire with it but both my SKS and my Saiga easily out shot it.  Of course I only used Wolf ammo in all three.  Is this a recent manufactured gun or one several years old?  The word seems to be that the new ones shoot somewhat better.

new , its better than an old one i had !
I have had alot of misfires with wolf  black box ! but everything else works fine .
the store i got it from warned that it would be that way !

I feel mine gets good accuracy with 150 grain handloads but I don't recall if the .308s shot better than the .312s  The .312s, I think, plus I "home" molycoated them.

I made a big steel knob (brake) that clamps on the end of the barrel for the purpose of altering barrel harmonics.  It does.  It made the 123 grain handloads shoot lots better. 

I haven't shot the gun in a couple years.  I figure if Hillary gets elected, the mini will be worth a half million dollars or more.

I get around 2.5-3MOA from Wolf 122 grain HP using the flip up peep. If I scope it the groups shrink to about 2 MOA. This is over a rest at 100 yards. I do most of my shooting offhand at 200 yards with the peep, and the rifle is capable of keeping them in the 200 yards NRA High Power target as well as any standard issue US military rifle I've shot, anything out of the black being me. Odd, Wolf does not give me fliers in this caliber like I get with their 5.56 55 grain load.
I did try some commercial hunting ammo several years ago, and it shot about the same as the Wolf.
Speaking of the Wolf "Black Box" ammo, I have found in the last batch, purchased 3-4 years ago, that I get far less duds than I got with the ammo purchased at the time of the rifle, almost 7 years ago.

the problem i have with wolf is so many don't go bang on the first couple tries . but what does go bang is ok !

SHOOTALL, glass bed the action, and float the barrel. You'll be shocked at the difference, trust me. Unless it's already been done the action most likely is walking in the stock.
Have done this and a trigger job on 7 or 8 mini 14s  over the years, and the change is substantial.

I have found to get the best possible group from a Mini the barrel needs a few minutes to cool between each shot

I have both a Mini-30 and a Mini-14 (both are Ranch Rifles). My Mini-30 doesn't even shoot as well as yours, but it was made (I think) more than 5 years ago. When I first got my Mini-14 (also over 5 years old) it too shot poorly. Not really knowing anything at all about how to "fix" this, I happened onto a partial cure. I wanted to put a flash hider on it, and bought one of the kind that pin on using the same pin that holds the front sight. I weighs maybe 8 ounces. After installing the flash hider, my groups shrank from 4-6 inches at 100 yards down to about 1-1/2 inches, using almost any ammo, including Wolf. I haven't had a chance to try that on my Mini-30 (mainly because the same kind of flash hider is not available for it) but suspect that it would help that rifle as well. If I do more work on them (I have restocked both of them with Hogue stocks because of the longer length of pull), I will look into glass bedding and free-floating the barrels. Never having been a fan of the M16 ever since I carried one in 'Nam, I will do whatever it takes to make the Mini-14 and Mini-30 as accurate as I need them to be.
