"The 20 GA. Shortie Harvested Three Today"
« on: November 15, 2007, 11:42:33 AM »
Hey, had a good day of rabbit hunting today. I missed  two today and harvested three. My new pup run one full circle and that really made my day. With a little more work and I think she will be okay. The condition were not the best, windy and dry. Me and the girls hit the bottoms and around the reeds on the lake. I quess it pays just to get outdoors and enjoy, I was not expecting to much, just running the girls, but did okay. Rabbit for acouple of dinners.

Congrats, sounds like your pup is going to be a good one. You got a nice looking shotgun there too.

I hope I am as fortunate as you this weekend when I go bunny hunting.

Looking good, I hope there are a few rabbits left in Delaware when you get home. Between foxes, hawks and land development I'm not seeing too many. the strange thing is that I see a ton of them in town. They run all around the equipment yard at work.

Same here.  I've not seen a rabbit or pheasant in the field in a long while.  And yes, the hawk and fox population seems to be booming.  Lately I seem to see a hawk each time I squirrel hunt.  Saw two this past Tuesday.

Thanks to all,

Thanks for the congratulations. It really doesn't happen to often that I get the chance to shoot at five rabbits. It was a pretty good day. Most of the time me and the girls will only harvest one or two rabbits.

Grumpy E. I am wishing you good luck on your upcoming bunny hunt.

Markus, I'm looking at hunting public land in Delaware, the Blackbird Forest Tracks (Had good hunting there in the past) and Cedar Swamp South Area (Have hunted there when Frank Daniels owned it). I'm not too in the know about Kent County areas, please advice me of some areas so I can do some research, maybe Blackistons, Bombay Hook, Little Creek areas.

Thanks again!

PS: I will be making a full report to all about Markus line after the Hunt! HeHe!  (I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun)

Froghunter,  Check out Milford Neck it is pretty big and I've seen folks running beagles their before. The locals can be just a tad unfriendly at times from what I've heard but I've never had any problems. I spent a lot of time riding around all of the dirt roads there with my Dad. He lived real close. I walked a few few rabbits up on one of the tracts in 94 right after I moved back to DE other than that I've never really hunted there.

I had 3 races. this morning 1st ran to trash dump I flat missed the second one and the last one was going straight away with my dog right on his behind so there was no shot, no blood but still a great morning

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. It was opening day of deer gun season here today. Went this am and this afternoon, saw nothing, but heard a lot of shooting.

Plumberroy,

It's fun and I enjoy it when they cut loose and start their song! I think that's the way the Big Man upstairs mean it to be and that's the way I'm going to live it. I have not been able to go in the last couple of days. I have been guided the family on deer hunts. The wife got her first doe deer yesterday afternoon with her sidekick. The Muzzleloader season starts the 23rd and that's my time to hunt the deer until the 2nd of December. After that it time to hunt the rabbits until the end of Feb. Please keep posting the hunting stories and about our favorite little hunting guns.

Good Luck!
