Old Contender Frames
« on: November 16, 2007, 10:52:39 AM »
Hi, I'm new to the forum.  Been reading around here for awhile now. I even have myself convinced that I'm going to get me an Encore.  Well my question is this:  My dad has the old style Contender pistol frame (one with the cougar engraved on the side) I would like to get him a new barrel for it (.204 Ruger) but I seem to remember hearing that the new barrels wouldn't fit his frame. I also seem to remember reading something about being able to send an old frame into T/C to allow it to work with the new barrels.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Great site!
Thanks,
BP

i have  5 older frames blued and stainless mixed. i have older and newer barrels the new barrels work just fine on my frames. what you have to worry about is older barrels working on new frames like the g2.then you have to change out the locking lugs.but in your case you shouldn"t have any problems. just my 2 cents worth

I have an "old" Contender frame with the engraved cougar.  It works just fine with my "new" 204 Ruger barrel.

Thanks for the information. I was just wondering because my dad called T/C a a few years ago and told him his frame needed to be modified because it was a what they called a "small" frame Contender. Thanks again for everything.
Thanks,
