Factory loads for .270 Win.
« on: November 16, 2007, 01:07:05 PM »
I'm getting great groups with Federal Classic [blue box] 130 grns.,but after reading the forums here many suggest 150grns.Now I'm hunting deer at modest ranges 40-150 yds. I want a load that drops 'em right now because I hunt public land and if they travel far someone else gets it.I never owned a .270 before so any suggestions ? Am I okay with the Federals ?I was thinking of maybe Rem 150 RN corelokts or 150 Feds.

The Remington Core-lokt is always a good choice.

I have killed quite a few Texas Whitetail with the 80 and 100g Federal Classic SPs out of a 243 at ranges from a hundred to 300 yards...

should work just fine with the 270

my new Tikka 308 groups well with the 150 and I am 100% confident in it to take a deer or hog

I believe they use Speer Hotcores (for sure in the 80g 243) which is a proven bullet

I say go for it

If your gun is shooting the 130gr well, I would see no reason to change. I have shoot several whitetails with the 270/130 combo and they die just fine. I have only had one gun that preferred the 150 gr over the 130. Good Luck

I reload, but for both my son's 270 and my son in laws 270 the 140 Accubond has been an excellent bullet.  Great accuracy and great results on deer.
