CZ-712: The darned bolt handle :)I've d
« on: November 17, 2007, 08:25:34 PM »
Ok, I'm trying to disassemble my CZ-712 shotgun and I am at a loss as to how to get the handle out of the bolt (which seems to be a prerequisite to removing the bolt from the gun).  I've tried pulling on it (with finger pressure and with pliers), I've tried lining it up in vairous spots, with barrel on, with barrel off, etc.  Is there any trick to getting this thing off?

As to reason I ask (and I guess this is an extension of my question): my gun is having numerous failure to fires.  About 1/4 of the time, after a shot, the slide carrying the bolt will not return all the way to the closed position.  It will remain about 1/8 to 1/4" back.  Since there is a protrusion behind it to cock the hammer on firing, this gets in the way of the hammer dropping, resulting in a FTF.  If I  check it after every shot I can tell when it hasn't come all the way back, and I can easily push it shut, but that's no good for actually using the gun.

I've polished up the magazine tube which the slide guides go against, and I've given the gun a good cleaning, to no avail.  My guess is that the slide and the bolt have some ammount of friction occuring that is preventing a full lockup.  Figured if I could get them appart I could check this and polish the surfaces if necessary.

I have one and I used a pair of vice grips with a rag to keep from scratching the thing. Go the CZ Forum, and they have instructions, or you can call CZ USA. I would do that anyway as they had a recall on that gun for firing pins breaking. They will fix it for  you for free.
