i sold my father my .308 handi with bull barrel and laminate stock awhile back and he loves it! saturday was opening day of rifle season in NY and we were hunting on the new lease we got. at 8:15am saturday morning my father noticed a BIG mature doe playing peek-a-boo with him about 85 yards out, 1 shot to the neck with federal powershocks put our first deer on the lease down! well today we went out again, and at about 8:15 again he see's a deer coming at him walkin all hunched up, at first glance he thought it was a doe so put his gun back down, but looking at it again he seen it was a fork horn so he raised the .308 again and dropped him at 40 yards. i got over to him and we spread his legs to start field dressing him and noticed he had been shot in the SCROTUM!!!!! which explains him being hunched over i would think.he also had a grazing shot on his left flank so we figure someone took a couple running away shots on him. my father turned 50 this year and this was buck number 29 for him, and in the 5 years i have been able to deer hunt i have never seen him so excited before! as i walked up on him he was hootin and smiling from ear to ear and told me to go check him out because he was shaking to much to get out of his stand! nows thats passion for hunting my friends!
we are not trophy hunters by any means, if we have tags and there is meat infront of us, we shoot it!
