12ga USH 3.5" rechamber question
« on: November 18, 2007, 01:59:25 PM »
Hastings will bore out the 20 ga USH barrell's for the new 3" slugs. Has anyone ever heard of doing the same type re-bore to allow the 12 ga USH to shoot 3.5" slugs? If so, who, where, cost, etc? Thanks.

Francis,

Hastings will rechamber the 20ga USH to 3-1/2" for their new 3-1/2" slugs. The 20ga USH already comes with a 3" chamber from the factory.

Sorry, can't help you with any information on the 3-1/2" 12 ga.

Is there a specific slug you want to use in 3 1/2? a 3 inch will handle some very hearty loads. check out Ed Hebel's 12 gauge from h$ll threads and you will see what can be done with just going to slower powders.

1st let me apologize for the brain lapse. I was looking at some reload data and guess I got my info cross circuited. The 20 ga can be rechambered to 3.5" for the new Hastings slugs.
I wanted to know about the 12 ga due to the lightfield's 3.5 inch shells.

I really like my H&R USH and don't want to go to another shotgun to shoot the 3.5". Thanks

They are thumpers. I guess it is just a matter of whether or not it is worth an extra hundred feet per second. I would think most gunsmiths could rechamber it easy enough.
