IS THIS SAFE?
« on: June 20, 2003, 03:03:56 PM »
I'm loading for my S&W 657CH. 41 mag.  I'm using 215 gr. carroll swc w/9gr of HS6. A light load. I've found that if I seat the bullets longer I get much better accuracy. Normal for this load seated in the proper place is 1.585" When seated long they are 1.678". Almost an 1/8th of an in. What I'm doing is seating the bullet so it just touches the throat. Almost a little bit of a push fit. But not so much as it makes the gun close hard. What I was wondering is if this will affect the pressure? I know that it will increase if the bullet is seated too deep.
thanks,
c mac

You should be just fine. You can pretty much always load a little long as long as it still chambers OK. Preasure problems will show up if you load too short.  KN
