I am thinking about a 7X30 Waters ,out of a 223 barrel, any thoughts.   Doug

I always have admired this round...and have wanted one ever since I saw a limited Winchester XTR with a 26" octagon barrel in it...

Mac, me to I am looking for a level of performance ie; 120 gr NoslerBT @ 2800fps.I have a real bad right shoulder and cannot take much more than 11fp of recoil energy and this  load out of a Handi is right at that.
Plus with the high BC of the Nosler(.417) it can be a honest 300 yd gun.I never plan on shooting, that far, but the best laid plans and all of that    Doug

I have been absent from this board almost since it moved from the H & R/NEF site.  Man am I behind the times.

Wondering about the octagon profile several of you mentioned here.  Was this done by a smith or did you just have at it with a file. Was it straight or tapered? I have done that in the past on ML bls...

The 223 barrel is en route to Wayne's so he can work his magic,ie 223 to 7x30 Waters. He thinks turnaround time @ 16 weeks, that would be Apr 1 2008.I can wait but not very well. ::)  Doug
