Comparative Recoil
« on: November 22, 2007, 07:36:30 PM »
I am considering having my ultra-rifle fitted for a heavy 12 gauge ultra slug barrel, but I am curious about the recoil. I can relate to an 8mm Mauser, a Mosin M-44 (7.62 x 54R), a .308
and a 12 gauge single shot with 00 3" magnums. How does the recoil of the 12 gauge ultra slug barrel compare to these?

Thanks for your help.

The 12ga Ultra Slug barrel is too big to fit an SB2 rifle frame, it can only be fitted to a 10ga frame.

You can have the 20GA Ultra Slugger barrel fitted to that frame but not the 12GA Ultra Slugger as Quick already pointed out...

I have never shot the Mauser, Mosin, or a 308 but I have shot a 12GA single shot with 3" mags...The 12GA Ultra Slugger has slightly less felt recoil.  The 12GA Ultra has a heavy barrel and that helps to mitigate the punishment that the shooter endures.

The 20GA Ultra Slugger would probably be closer to those other guns that you had mentioned...That's the route I would take if I had a SB2 Ultra Rifle frame and wanted a slug gun...

Good luck with your decision.
