Fed. Brass ?

I have mostly used Win. Brass and with good consistant results.
Can't stand Rem or S&B.
I have used some Fed but not much.
Recently I used Fed once fired with Great results but seems alittle hard to come by.
Norma, Lapua and the likes are out because of price.
Anyone know where to get Fed. GMM brass ?

The best you can hope for is to find an individual with some once fired brass as Federal stopped selling reloading components quite some while back. Not likely many dealers still have it in stock after all this time. It's good stuff but Hornady is as good or better and still available if they make what you're looking for.

I also am a big fan of federal brass.  I was able to come by a stock of federal loaded ammo a while back at a shop for a low price.  Shot it up mostly for the brass.  It was pretty darn accurate itself... 170 grain soft point i think... for -06.  But yeah, would also like to buy some.

Midway lists 30/06 & 270 Win. Federal brass.

For the 30/06, I've found the Lake City military brass to be very good as long as I throw away the cases with eccentric flash holes.

Another brand you might consider is Nosler; it's very good brass and if factory seconds are available for the cartridge you're loading for, the price isn't bad.

I bought some new, primed, .25-06, Federal brass around a year ago.  Got it, I think, from Natchez Shooter's Supply.  They had maybe 6 or 7 cartridges available.  Didn't see any Fed brass offered in the December catalog that came in today's mail.  Was this just some old brass they still had on inventory?

In today's Midway Flyer, they had .308/.270/30-06 Federal brass for sale. Item numbers:
215-564/672-344/912-087 respectively.

If there is that much of it out there still new and unsold it seems pretty obvious to me why Federal stopped selling it as components. No one is buying it.

Company's like Federal, Winchester,Remington, make large amounts of certain calibers, then stash the dies for a few years. Once the demand gets great enough, they'll make more. I'm sure with metal price's going up, the major company's are going watch, real careful, how much excess brass there is. Their certainly not going to make a run of a million cases, if they don't think they can't get sell it to the distributors in short order.  gypsyman

It is probably not unsold brass but new brass instead. Federal was bought out a while back and I recall reading that the new owners intended to get back in the brass business.

Federal is a major supplier to the armed forces and the supply of Federal brass dried up shortly after Afghanistan and Iraq.  I prefer Federal brass and was unable to find any for quite a while.

I did buy 500 once-fired cases for my 7mm RM a few years back when I couldn't get new, but sources for that dried up, too.

Glad to see some Federal brass is becoming available again.
