Finally sub MOA from 7-30
« on: November 24, 2007, 06:25:48 PM »
I have liked the 7-30 for many years, but have never gotten better than 1.25" accuracy with it. I have tried several powders. I just tried reloader 15 with 130 gr. SSP (no longer made I hear) and got a nice 1/2" group.

I have the same problem with my 7-30 waters. How many grains of powder did you use and what is your overall length?

Thanks,

Bob

Must be talking long gun.  I have had 2 pistols (still have one) and both shot 1" or better off of the bench.  I have had great luck with 120 BT's and 140 Partitions using Reloader 15.  From my limited experience with the 2 pistols and 2 rifles; if I want accuracy I have a lot better luck with the pistols.

I used 34 gr at an OAL of 2.65" from a 14" barrel.

Oddly enough, the 120 gr bullets that had done the best with other powders, shot in the 1.5" area.

I use 35grs of H-335 with a Moly coated 140 Ballistic Tip.  My 21" barrel lets me seat them out to 3.01" OAL.
It will got into .4" at 100yds  and was minute of antelope at 177yds and minute of mulie at 146 yds this year.
