tactical stocks
« on: November 25, 2007, 06:57:16 AM »
my son has a tactical stock from atigunstocks .com  I like it a lot on his gun (870 remmington) and I see they make them for the handy as well it says for shotgun or rifle.  I like the adjustable stock for when wearing different clothing.  Has anybody used one and do they work well on the handi?

I'd think twice about using a collapsible stock like the ATI with a scope.

I was very suprised at the opinions on this stock in the refered thread, since they are advertised to be used on rifles and shotguns.  It seems to works very well on my sons' .12 gauge 870 even with the slug barrel.  Of Course the stock is adjusted only when heavy clothes pushes the scope too far out to get a good sight picture.  Is the general opinion that it is not durable enough or too dangerous because you could get that nasty black eye? I have seen them on some production turkey guns I'm thinking of the Mossberg tactical turkey.  Anyway I could see the potential eye issue.

That was on an 835 Mossy, the ATI Shotforce isn't well regarded from all accounts that have been reported here.

wow I had to go back 5 pages to find this post. Just wanted to share this info. take it for what it's worth.  I e-mailed atigunstocks and asked about using their stocks on slug guns and rifles. they claim they are rated to handle it and refered me to a picture on their site where one was used on a 10 gauge handi.   Anyway, like I said take it for what it's worth just wanted to share.

I picked up the ati adj stock for my sons shotgun.  I do like the forearm because it has a huge barrel channel and it has a spacer.  The buttstock however served its purpose, for a 5yr old at the time ,but is cheap and sloppy IMHO.  It isn't used anymore, since he fits the youth stocks now.  But i'm working on a varmit rig 25-06 and would like a good stock and forearm for it.  I might just use the ati forearm for now and see how it goes.

Thanks stimpy fro the info on the forearm.

I had one on my 410 and it worked ok as far as lockup.

Problem I had was I really had to crane my head down to line up with it.

Maybe a youth stock I like them.
