My nine year old nephew nailed his first squirrel!
« on: November 25, 2007, 03:47:30 PM »
My nine year old nephew has been taking an interest in shooting recently.  He's been shooting his BB gun for a couple years now and we started him with a .22 in the last few weeks.  I gave him a bunch of paper targets and some ammo yesterday and he practiced all day.  Today, his dad took him squirrel hunting and he nailed his first one with a one shot kill to the head out of a tree...off hand.  I was proud of him.  He carried it back to the house, knocked on the door so his mother would answer and he was standing there holding it.

It's going to be fun in the next few years seeing him take to hunting and watching him progress.  I can't wait to see him take his first deer!
I'm an accountant and I carry a gun...'nuff said

That's awsome! I remember when my boy killed his first squirrel. Pretty much blew it off a low limb with an H&R 20 gauge, and left very little to eat, but oh well, he was so tickled that we had to stop hunting so he could go home to show his mother. He was 6 years old.

Thanks for posting, and keep us up to date on his progress! Tell him I said congratulations!
