short and hand .41
« on: November 26, 2007, 02:06:29 PM »
I decided to make my 1894 .41 mag. a little shorter and handier for several reasons.  I cut the barrel to 16.5" and bobbed the magazine tube as well.  Things went well according to tips found on this forum about crowning ect. The problem is with the barrel band not fitting the new dimentions.  Did those of you who have done this find a good way to make the band fit as needed?  I also decided to streamline the furniture by eliminating the checkering and then some more.  This is going to be a dandy for my close cover pig and white tail encounters. Heck it may find a place as my home defense weapon.   Also I had a couple of booboos where I made minor marks on the blueing and wanted to know your best recommendation for a cold blue product. Thanks, gulfdaddy
