I have an Etrex (the yellow one) that I have had for a few years. I keep loosing signal even in very light cover. does anyone know if they will up grade my older unit to one of the new high sensitivity ones or swap out the parts.

The answer is no.   The Garmin response is on the Garmin website, I suspect it is a very common question with improvements coming on market every few months.   The answer is typical across the electronics, and software industry.
