illuminated mueller or not?
« on: November 29, 2007, 02:31:21 AM »
I want a 3x9 or larger for deer and predator hunting to go on my .243.

Where can I find the cheapest one? (sport-dot?)

And where is the cheapest non-illuminated variable?(APV?)

I can't decide which way to go.....
Got:
Handi VP 22/410, 410, 20, 17M2, .223, 357MAX, 50cal ML SS w/MU plug

I`m a Leupold fan period. That said, 3 x 9 is probably the best all round scope there is. It will give you a good point of aim to the max. effective range of your .243 and when set on 3X you will have a large enough field of view for close running targets. I would recommend a duplex cross hair. Dots are great if you have good lite, but morning and evening in the shade you`ll loose the dot. Lited cross hairs never seemed to help me. Just my opinion, but got my first scope in the early 1960`s, and have over 30 around here now. Fixed from 2X to 36 X and variables form 1 1/2 to 4X to 8.5 x 25X.

Pretty much decided upon the Mueller, but also thinking a little about the Pentax Gameseeker or a Nikon.

"How much can you spend?"
Up to $200, but 100 would be better.  ;D

Thanks.

I went with the 3-9x40 red dot for $150 from Mueller at eabco.
Just wish they made it in silver to match my SS.

CANT WAIT!
