Blaser S2

Does anyone here know anything about the Blaser S2 double rifle?  There's a used one available locally that I'm interested in.  I seem to recall that this gun allows for adjusting the regulation of the barrels, but I don't know the details, and the gun has no papers or manuals with it.

Any info would be appreciated.

  I thought maybe someone would answer here by now...  All i know is, they seem to have a lower resale than some other doubles.

  A big complaint i've heard is, what would be the "tang safety" on other guns, is really a cocking devise...  Krieghoff has this too, but what makes guys not like Blasers design is, the fact that if you fire both bbls, open the gun, reload, you then have to cock it again manually!  On the Krieghoff, opening the gun to reload is what recocks the hammers!

  That's the big issue, and there's also some others that really boil down to personal taste...

  BTW, Krieghoff's also have the bbl regulation wedge... as does a few others...

Thanks for the feedback, DM.  I found a couple of other sites (accuratereloading.com and nitroexpress.com) where I read some very negative opinions on Blasers because of this cocking system.  In particular, they were going on about how unsafe it would be on a dangerous game gun.  My uses for this rifle wouldn't include dangerous game (sigh!) so I don't think it's that much of a negative issue for me.  The reduced resale value is the only reason I can even remotely consider this purchase.  A side-by-side double rifle is high on my all-time wish list, but the number of guns I would have to sell to make this happen gives me a sick feeling.  All this for a gun that I'd probably be afraid to take outside if there were a cloud in the sky!

Very cool gun, though.

  I don't see why you would be afraid to use it???  I use my drilling for 99% of my hunting...

  And about every other way you can think of...  I can't see where it hurt it any???  And i'm still using it every day of the hunting season...



  Hunting with a quality gun just makes hunting all the better for me...  I don't and wouldn't own a gun that i wouldn't hunt with...  I don't own any "safe queens"!  The few nicks it gets don't bother me at all, i'm keeping it untill i die, i didn't buy it to please anyone but myself...

I agree with DrillingMan.  I had a shotgun that in my opinion were too nice for the Texas Hill Country, also I had not used it in years.  So I traded it in on several guns, mainly for my wife, which she uses.  Prior to getting the Valmet's I thought they were to nice to use in this climate, however I over came that view.  I use them all the time and keep them well maintained but expect them to show use. 

Look at it this way, if you dont use the gun because it it too nice to use what is the point of owning it.
