ejection problem with Marlin 783

I have a 783 22mag, that will not eject, I replaced the extracter, no go, does the cartrige lifter perform or help perform the ejection? Could a worn cart. lifter be my ejection problem, I would sure appreciate some help. Call me "getting frustrated"  Thanks  :D  ARC LITE
