winchester nickel plated brass

Has anybody ever reloaded the Winchester supreme brass from the black box. It is silver and I am assuming it is nickel. I would be neck sizing only. Also looking for loads for a Rem 700 in.243 with a 1 in 9 1/8 twist and a 26 inch barrel. I want to use 87gr. v-max bullets and,  have IMR4350 , H380 and IMR4895 powders on hand. I was going to use the IMR4350 but would an other powder be more suitable for this rifle and bullet.

Nickel seems to be a little harder to size, but if you are neck sizing you probably wont even notice.   KN

Clem, I have heard horror stories about scratching sizing dies with nickel plated brass because it flakes, but I have neck sized and full length sized 7mm Rem. Mag. Winchester nickel plated brass down to 264 Win Mag in one step without a single problem and will continue to do this.  I have inspected the outside and inside surfaces of the brass before and after sizing and have found no peeling, cracking or any other malady in the brass whatsoever.  BTW, I use Imperial Sizing wax for case lube if this makes any difference.

Sounds like you have the same rifle as mine. Remington SPS 243 Varmint. How does yours shoot? I have shot 3 shot groups at 300 yards that measure 7/8'' with mine. Using factory ammo. Hornady 58 grain VMax. I can get groups that measure 3/8'' an less at 100 yards with the same ammo. Dale

My rifle is a VLS, with a burris black diamond 8-32x50 scope. I haven't put that many rounds through it yet to see what works best , but at 100 yards it is almost always under an inch with any ammo. The longest shot I have tried with it is at a 1 gallon washer fluid jug at 550 yards and after a few shots to figure out the drop could hit it 75%. I think I could do better with more practice I usually don't shot more than 300.

Looks good. I find I never use anything over 24 and usually us 14 because thats the power the mil-dot and bullet drop is calibrated at. Also 14 is usually lots of magnification at 300 or less.

I have reloaded the Win Nickel brass for my 223 with no problems at all. I initially used it to help discern different loads for my three different 223s. I have since consolidated my 223s so it is no longer needed. I'm still hanging on to the brass and will definitely use it in the furure.

Sounds like the brass should be ok. Any ideas on the powders, is IMR4350 a good bet or would something else work better in this rifle.

Clem, IMR4350 has been the go-to powder for 243Win that was mine and now is my future S-I-L's.  I loaded 100 grain bullets and had exceptional accuracy and after Heath bought it, he loaded up some 58 grain Hornady V-Max bullets with this powder and was shooting .25" at 100 yds.  I think IMR4350 should be even better in your rifle because your's has another 4" of barrel length.  BTW, I loaded some 87 grain Hornady bullets with H4831SC and the accuracy wasn't awful but it sure didn't shine like the loads with IMR4350.  Good luck
