aftermarket trigger.

I have a ruger m77 in 17 hmr.

I dont liike the trigger.  I pulls pretty heavy.

Any recommendations for an aftermarket trigger.

I would not spend the money.  Polish the trigger and sear contacts and trim 1/2 coil off the trigger spring.  Look over at centerfirecentral.com for the directions.  It takes about 15 minutes and makes alot of difference.  I have done 7-8 ruger triggers like this.

Deerman12, do you use a fine stone on the trigger contact surfaces to "polish" them? 

Steven49er, I have never replaced the trigger on a rimfire Ruger 77, but I have installed a Dayton-Traister trigger and a Timney in centerfire Ruger 77s.  I don't recommend the D-T trigger, it is just a glorified factory trigger IMO, while the Timney is the real deal and is fully adjustable for take-up as well as weight but you have to pay more for it.  Sometimes you get what you pay for and this is one of those times.  I don't know if the triggers will interchange rimfire to centerfire and vice versa.

Replaced mine with a rifle basics I bought on midwayusa.com and love it. I dont have a scale but I would guess it is set at about 2 1/2 pounds, and breaks clean and crisp. came with instructs that were very easy to follow. Took me about 15 minutes to put it in.

I have 6 Ruger MKII rifles and have had Timney triggers installed in all of them. Rugers factory triggers are simply the worst.

Just install a timney sear.  It works fine, I have one on mine.  I would not mess with springs and stones unless you have experience doing this.  MO
