mk11 ruger loose barrel in frame.

    I have a new to me ruger mk11 that the barrell is loose in the frame.  Nice blue but looks like it was worn in the rain and not carefully clean then maybe improperly diassembled/ man handled?  Anyonegot any opinions as too what to do with it. It shoots ok just loose. SN

I would recommend calling Ruger and making arrangements to send the rifle back to them for repair.  If the rifle has been altered in any way you may want to take it to a good gunsmith instead though.  This condition may be dangerous if you continue to shoot it.  Good luck and keep us posted.

Did some more research and seems as though its fairly common.  Not sure if they are poorly fitted from factory and shoot loose or if its abuse during takedown but it seems to be common.  There were a couple fixes that were fairly home repair friendly.  After taking the barrel off and looking at why it was loose the how to fix is simple.  Rimfirecentral has a how two article on the topic, follow the  steps and wolla tight mark 11 once again.
