Hey All:

1st Post, newbie to GBO but the Crew I run with said - Ya'll are the X-Sperts...

I picked up a 70's model .58 Cal Huntsman with 28" Barrel, has the "O" ring baggage that I need to get fixed (Drilled/Tapped/Screwed)...  Any suggestions on this???

Also, I want to see if you have any insights into loads (Powder Charge/Lead Round Ball) for this Make, Model and type of gun - I gave $150.00 for it.  Was that a bad deal?

The Top Gun in my Pic is the Huntsman...

I have a .54Caliber Carbine (Investarms) and a  .50n Caliber CVA Bobcat & .50 Caliber TC Z3 that I already shoot with some I am Smi ("Truck Driver") Familiar with "Front End Loaders"...

Anyway, your input on the "Old .58 Caliber Huntsman" will be appreciated!

Meanwhile I am gonna poke around a bit, hope to run into you!
SCREAM A LITTLE and I'll see you at the lake, around the beach, on the mountain & in the woods on this side or the other... Ron

Welcome to GBO! A little high at $150 but maybe not for your area I paid $135 for mine in like new shape . I had heard all the horror stories of the killer breech plugs til I happened on some info here and what has been omitted from the stories is the ones who injured or killed had been modified to be able to remove the breech plug without taking the gun apart to remove the plug. That said if you open the barrel and can not pop the plug out you are good to go shoot it and enjoy. I am carrying mine now for the next 3 days as our ML season comes to a close this weekend . I am shooting 405g Buffalo Ball-ets over 75 grains of Shockey Gold in the morning and if all goes well I will switch to a patched ball the rest of the weekend. Kurt
