wife's leg update
« on: December 07, 2007, 01:25:20 AM »
ok, took the wife too the bone specialist. 6 more x-rays. her bones are in good position and the doc is sure they wont shift, so that means she got out of that huge cast for starters.
she still cant drive, or go to work, but she got a framed cast that she can remove to sleep and shower. no pins will be needed, but she will be casted for 7 weeks. she can walk around some, and apply up to 30 pounds on her foot ( not sure how to meaure that, lol )  her foot is no longer black, its a nice purple and blue/green. the doc said she has circulation back and crystal says she can feet her foot again..
so, all in all we caught a break ( no pun intended, really )

Glad to hear the good news Glenn, make sure she takes it easy and doesn't walk on it too much.

Good advice.  The better she feels during the recuperation, the more she'll want to do.  She must be very careful.  Keep a good watch on her, Coach.      ;)

thanks guys
she's in good spirits, and she's only in any real pain in the evening when she gets tired. she has real nice framed cast, that alot nicer then my knee braces, that allow her to remove it, if nothing else it makes her feel better to have it off for some time during the day.
she will have to be using crutches for some time yet, when she has to get around, but we can deal with that.
both of us thank all of you, for the well wishes and support.
it looks like i get a bit more time to be back here, soothing the itch and feeding the addiction

she can walk around some, and apply up to 30 pounds on her foot.

That is easy, just have her put her foot on a scale and she can feel how much 30 pounds is.  The scale trick is from Mayo Clinic, Mom had her hip revision last year.

I hope she keeps getting good news, and gets better.

Thanks,
Paul
