Sorry, I can only encourage your purchase. I bought a Ruger M77 Sporter in .338 Win Mag three years ago. It has one of the best triggers I've had on an out of the box factory rifle. It is also very accurate, more accurate than I am with a cartridge of such recoil. I also like the dimensions of the stock and the way this makes the rifle handle. The smooth non-checkered wood also suits me well, and odd as it seems, in the cold woods this stock seems to hold warmth better than any other I own. New England Custom Gun makes a peep sight that works well and installs on the receiver's integral scope ring attachment device. The little NECG peep is easy to carry on remote trips as a back up in case the scope gets damaged. I can remove the scope and reinstall it, and the point of impact stays within the initial zero at 200 yards.
