Synthetic forend, O-ring?

I read all I could find in the FAQ.

Didn't read anything about the synthetic forend.  Can you use the O-ring and bedding tricks on it, or is it just for the wood ones?
Please forgive my ignorance.

Just picked up my first Handi yesterday.  .243 SS
Cleaned and oiled it last night and shot a few today at the range.  2-3" groups at 100 yards with gloves.  100gr Peters and cheap Remington's.  Its 10 degrees here!

2 to 3 inch groups at 100 yards is 'minute of deer' accuracy
 it's sure to break in a bit more, when it does it may just tighten up more.
either way, try firing it with out the fore end on, if the groups tighten up, then an o-ring will help.
i dont see why you cant use an o-ring with the syn. stocks, but i dunno about bedding it.
another thing i do, find a steel washer thats fits over the stud, and grind off two sides so it fits into the oval opening in the stock. this also raises the forend away from the barrel, floating it. you aint going to hurt anything by trying an o-ring or washer, or shooting it without the forend on it..
see what you get group wise, and let us know

"drill out the forend pocket"...  What do you mean by this?

Not going to do anything yet, just thinking ahead....

I put an o-ring on my Synthetic stock. It helped the groups a little, I figure it can't hurt.  Also my barrel is free floating (whether because of the o-ring or not), I can slide a dollar bill all the way to the stock bolt.  I have a Survivor 308 HB.  I replaced the knob on the front stock with a normal nut and switched the stock to a Monta Carlo stock.  This rifle is more than minute of deer.

The forend stud pocket in the synthetic forend is too small for a ½" diameter spacer, so you have to drill it out so the spacer will fit in it. As I said in the link, it forms a pillar bed of sorts under the stud that's solid, not compressible like an O-ring.

I put an o-ring in my synthetic forend, seems to make it more consistent so I sighted in and left it in.
