Antelope Season Dates

How late in the year can you hunt Antelope? Can one make it this year or should I plan on next year?

Pretty sure all such seasons are already closed IF you're refering to Pronghorn antelope. Also pretty much everywhere you must draw a tag and most all drawings close in the March to June time frame so you must get your request for a tag in during those time frames which vary by state.

But you can still go to Texas and hunt exotic antelope should you wish. Black buck antelope are a bit smaller than pronghorn but about the same level of hunting challenge and some ranches have other antelope as well. But for our native pronghorn it's too late for this year and time to get really serious about deciding where to apply for tags for next year.

Draw applications have to be postmarked by April 1st., and in Colorado it seems to take 5 to 6 preference points accumulated before you actually draw a license; meaning if you apply for the next five years, and do not draw, you will probably get your license in the sixth year.  Long wait for a goat license, but that's the way Colorado is running it.

  Wyoming will have another drawing for left over tags in June or July after the first drawing is over. You should be able to get tags easy enough. You need to find a place to hunt in the zones that have leftover tags. It is usually the zones with mostly private land that have leftover tags. Calling around could find a ranch to hunt for a trespass fee after you have a tag. The Fish and Game Department can tell you which zones usually have left over tags. Good Luck!
