Where to mount it is the question.  Many will chime in here I think and give good opinions.  There is some reading in the FAQ section of this forum on the use and installation of long range sights.

I have the same question as eskimo36, if the spring loaded detent is located to hold the unit in the position as shown in the photo you could not mount it on the chamber area of the barrel because it would lean forward about with a pronounced forward lean or cant. That might be fixable but without seeing the sight it cannot be determined. I do not like the idea of screwing the rear sight into the wrist of the wooden stock and prefer to keep the sights attached to the barrel anyway....<><....:)

Tim: is that a picture of the 3 1/2 " or a taller one?
Tim: I only look at the 38-55 and from what I seen was a sharp improvement over the stamped checkering really sharp.I like the action has lots of colors to it now what type of exstraction sysytem is on the 2007 models? I did not have a chance to hit the lever

That's Bernie's(Dodd3) rifle, maybe he'll comment on it if he sees it. Dunno, for sure, but I'd wager a good amount that it's an extractor since it was made this year, but it coould also be an ejector if the 38-55 is a slow mover as far as the numbers sold, you'll just have to have your wife break it open for ya once. ;) The BC/Target stocks are sub-contracted machine cut checkering, dunno who by tho.
