.25 WSSM; What Barrel Length 18",20", or 22"?
« on: December 09, 2007, 05:06:26 AM »
I would like to get a .25 WSSM.  It will be a custom job and I am wondering what barrel length I should go with.  I want the gun to be light.  But I do not want to sacrifice a lot of velocity to achieve this.  How much velocity would I loose going down to a 18" barrel?  How much with a 20"?

I've heard the WSSM's and the WSM's are more efficient and can be used with shorter barrels.

I don't have any set numbers for you but they have quit offering the 21" barrel in favor of a 22".
Even with the more efficient design there is a lot of powder in there for a quarter bore.

I would stick with the 20" or 22" if I were you.

I have a browning with a 22" barrel and do not think I would want it any shorter. One word of of caution, as much as I love the this cartridge it has been one of the most difficult for me to reload
