Best way to clean plastic (Sabots) from rifled barrels
« on: December 10, 2007, 03:57:32 PM »
Does anyone know what kind of solvent to use to remove any plastic residue left behind from sabots fired in a rifled barrel? - - - - - - or does a good brushing remove it completely?

Use solvent and a good brush and it should take care of everything.

I use a combo of CLP, Shooters Choice bore cleaner and a good bore brush such as Outers Phosphor Bronze wire brush.
I apply(saturate) the S.C. bore cleaner to the brush and trombone action the barrel atleast 10 times to loosen up the fouling, then a patch w/CLP. I keep doing this until clean. This also works very well with stubborn leading from shooting slugs and you can switch the SC bore cleaner with SC lead remover.
Good luck  ;)

Hoppe's #9 Bench Rest, you don't even need a brush!
RIP Mike. Died on July 14th, around 2am, with his family at his side, he went peacefully to be with god.
