barrel twist rates for AR-15?

I have just started my "build it" AR,and will be useing 55 grn bullets for most of my hunting or shooting.Have heard alot about barrel twist rates and would like to know the best rate for this weight bullet.Want the RRA barrel because the whylde chamber shoots 5.56 and .223 with good results.The 16 inch bull barrel looks pretty sweet.Thanks for your help.

I have a 1:9 in my Bushy.  I shoot a lot of the 45 grain winchester whitebox through it.  It loves the stuff.  I also shoot a lot of 52 gr Sierra matchkings.  They shoot great as well.  I think that 1:9 will do just fine for you.

Post the results of your shooting with the Wylde chamber.  I have been wanting to to do a 16" shorty build with the Wylde myself.  Fun Shooting!

1:12 was designed for the 55 grain M193 military rounds. Later they found 1:9 stabilized that round better at longer ranges. When the M16A2 came out with the 62 grain M855 ammo they kept the 1:9 twist. With ammo heavier than 69 grain a 1:7 twist is needed. I hope this helps. ;)

Mine is a 1 in 7 twists, shoots 50 on up really well, 60 to 75 the best.

Both of my 1x9 twist shoot 69 and 72MK just fine, 1in MOA  at 70 yards.
