I've just acquired a I-J Champion, single shot shotgun. It's a .16 ga in good condition. I-J is not well collected, but there sure must be thousands of them out there. A little internet work finds that they were made between 1909-1956, .12-.20-.16 ga. I want to shoot this one as it has been used in the field already. I've also learned that the .16 ga. was not standardized on length until the 20's-30's. This one also has serial LETTERS, so it must be of the older issue. Does anyone know of similar copies as to wether it is standard .16 ga. length. If not I intend to have my gunsmith ream it to length. I have not picked it up yet, still waiting my ten days here in the Republic of Kali-fornia. Any additional information would be appreciated.
